Day 68 - Hmmmmm

Alcohol Units: 0
Running Units: 2 + miles
Other exercise Units: 0
Stretching Units: many units

well this week has been a week of bad news.
  • monday death of a family member
  • tuesday quasi family member put on hospice and told it's a matter of days
  • wednesday dog of close family friends passes (i lived in their guest house for a year and she greeted me everyday)
so all sad news on varying degrees.

i mention this because i go to track practice excited to work out and release some tension/anxiety/stress (big presentation tomorrow am that's weighing on me). i'm working out and i'm talking to someone from my team (protecting identity since this is public) and we're talking about my progress to date. this person asks if maybe there's something wrong with me that i haven't been able to do more. yeah. not kidding.

i finished working out and chatted with some other team mates who made me feel better about things.

First--so sorry to hear that this has been such a week of woe. You're dealing with a trifecta of sadness, plus a lot of work. Yuck.

Second--your teammate. Um...hopefully whatever s/he said came out sounding really different from what s/he meant because I think that what s/he said sounded really wrong (meaning there's nothing 'wrong' with you) and also lame and hurtful.

I don't think my comment totally made sense, by the way so I'm sorry if it sounded ambiguous!
I meant that your teammate was wrong, and that there's nothing wrong with you (although you have had some sad times and bad luck with the stretching), and also that the comment s/he made was lame and hurtful.

sarah, can't believe it's been such a bad week.

and i agree with the other sarah - i am not sure what your teammate meant.

no wonder you got sick, you're dealing with a lot! take care of yourself and feel better soon!
